  The old working port. Its fortunes rise and fall with the shipping industry and at the moment they are falling quietly. Brick terraces back onto the docks, and inland the streets run on a grid the old merchants' guilds laid down when the port was young. A third of the adult population still works the port in some form. The rest work in the adjacent warehouses, the rail depot, the fish market, or the hospitals and schools that kept pace with the population. Houses here are cheap and stay cheap. Bands come out of Kellisport every few years that the Avenford press suddenly cares about.
